I’m enrolled in the Master’s of Liberal Studies at Southern Methodist University. It’s a hobby. That said, it means I write a lot of short stories and poetry no one ever sees. Above, in the photo, is my poem called, Caw Caw Screech.
Pecan Trees and Crows = FALL
I grew up in East Texas around a lot of pecan trees. For me, Fall will always be associated with crows. The sight and sound of them. Crisp air signifying a changing season. After school, as a young girl, I spent hours during the Fall walking around picking up pecans, cracking two together in my hand, as my Dad had taught me, getting to the meat of the nut, and listening to crows. Magical meditation it was.
Caw Caw Screech was written February, 2016. The artwork is a photo collage by Dub Weatherby in San Antonio. Mac and I purchased this piece from Populux Commissary Gallery, San Antonio.
